The sound installation “The synthesis of spaces” was a commission for the sound art exhibition “between limits” curated by Carsten Seiffarth for the Ex Teresa Arte Actual museum in Mexico City as well as for the Kunstraum Kreuzberg cultural space en Berlin Germany. The installation was thought as a work in situ for a specific space in the Ex Teresa and was later adapted for a space in the Kunstraum. The installation is based on the acoustic investigation of the most important spaces of Ex Teresa, a Baroque Ex-Convent and Church in the center of Mexico City, which is used as an art exhibition space. The acoustics of the respective rooms there, their diverse sizes and volumes and their proportional relationships to one another, form the structural basis of the installation. The work features sounds which were recorded in Ex Teresa using percussive sounds to stimulate their resonances. Then, the recordings were reduced as in cooking by using the convolution technique with white noise sounds in an iterative way. The proportional relationships and spatial-acoustic characteristics of the rooms at Ex Teresa serve as compositional parameters. For the spatial distribution of the sounds, I employ various groups of speakers, which are affixed to long steel tensed wires. The steel wires represent the length of each space, and the placement of the speaker along the wire their proportions (if the speaker is in the middle of the string the space is a square, and if it is displaced towards one of its ends the space would be more rectangular). Finally, the angular position of the steel wires is a representation of the condition of the building which is sinking little by little in the ground and gaining every year a grater steepness.

La instalación “La síntesis de espacios”  fue un encargo para la exposición de arte sonoro mexicano alemán entre límites curada por Carsten Seiffarth y realizada en el museo Ex Teresa Arte Actual en la ciudad de México y en el centro cultural Kunstraum Kreuzberg en Berlín. La instalación fue pensada como una obra in situ para un espacio específico del ex Teresa, y fue luego adaptada a un espacio del Kunstraum. La instalación está basada en una investigación acústica de los espacios más importantes del Ex Teresa, un ex convento del siglo XVIII en el centro de la ciudad de México que es utilizado como espacio de exhibición de arte. La acústica de los espacios respectivos, sus diversos tamaños y volúmenes y sus relaciones proporcionales  forman la base estructural de la instalación. La obra contempla a los sonidos grabados en el Ex Teresa utilizando sonidos percutivos para producir resonancias. Luego, las grabaciones fueron reducidas, como en la cocina, usando la técnica de convolución con sonidos de ruido blanco de manera iterativa. Las relaciones proporcionales así como las características espaciales de los espacios del ExTeresa sirvieron como parámetros composicionales. Para la distribución espacial de los sonidos, utilicé varios grupos de bocinas fijadas en largos cables de acero tensados. Estos cables representan lo largo de cada espacio, y la colocación de la bocina a lo largo del cable su proporción respectiva (si la bocina esta a la mitad, el espacio es cuadrado y si está desplazada hacia una  una punta el espacio es cada vez más rectangular). Finalmente, la posición angular de los cables de acero es una representación de la condición del edificio que se ha hundido poco a poco en la tierra lodosa del centro de la cdmx ganando cada año una mayor inclinación.
