Two women, their dogs, their lamps, their president and their soldiers

A found metal box, 26 x 28 cm with plastic slides from de 50's, with an incorporated viewer slide file (mini light table for one slide) in which you can see one of the slides. This is about a family collection, about their belongings, their jobs and tastes, a history where the script is ambiguous. The protagonists are two women and their affections (their lamps and dogs), and then some high rank military officers, the soldiers under their command, and their president Miguel Alemán.

This work tries to reconstruct the history and open unknowns: ¿who are they? ¿sisters? ¿one of them is the wife of one of the military’s, or are they both sisters of one of them? ¿what about the lamps, did they design them? What is certain is that it is a history of Mexico in the 50's looked through the eyes of a social class belonging to the cusp of power in that moment. A photograph that accompanies the object gathers a scanned selection of the sides reproduced on paper, telling a possible version of this story, but in the box are all the other possible combinations waiting for someone to reorder them again. Finally, an old projector projects one of the images of the box. The visiting public can choose both the slide for the mini viewer and the slide for the projector, converting this art work into a chance puzzle game.

Una caja de metal encontrada de 26 x 28 cm con transparencias de plástico de los años 50's y con un viewer slide file incorporado (mini mesa de luz para una transparencia) en el que se puede ver una de ellas. Se trata de una colección de una familia, de sus pertenencias, sus oficios y sus gustos, de una historia donde el guion es ambiguo. Las protagonistas son dos mujeres y sus afectos (sus lámparas y sus perros), y luego algunos oficiales militares de alto rango, los soldados a su mando y su presidente Miguel Alemán. 

Esta obra intenta reconstruir la historia y abrir incógnitas: ¿Quienes son ellas? ¿hermanas? ¿alguna es esposa de uno de los militares, o son ambas hermanas de alguno de ellos? ¿porqué hay lámparas? ¿ellas las diseñaron?. Lo cierto es que es una historia del México de los años 50's vista por los ojos de una clase social perteneciente a la cúpula del poder de esos momentos. Una fotografía que acompaña al objeto reúne una selección de las transparencias escaneadas y reproducidas en papel, contando una posible versión de esta historia, pero en la caja están todas las otras posibles combinaciones esperando a que alguien vuelva a ordenarlas. Finalmente, un proyector antiguo proyecta una de las imágenes de la caja. El público visitante puede escoger tanto la transparencia del viewer como la del proyector, convirtiendo a esta obra en un juego azaroso de rompecabezas.
